Is Somatic Sex Education different from Sexological Bodywork?
I use the terms Sexological Bodywork and Somatic Sex Education interchangeably. The profession within the State of California is called Sexological Bodywork and the website that has more information about the profession is sexologicalbodywork.com. Though Sexological Bodyworkers learn a variety of techniques and approaches, my own interest and specialty veers considerable from the standard training. My focus is working with men around mindfulness as experienced through one’s sexual energy. And it heavily influenced by Insight Meditation; Gendlin’s Focusing practices; and by the Svaroopa Yoga approach to releasing the spine. These and numerous other approaches to the body come from my own personal studies and explorations, and none of these have any connection to the Sexological Bodywork curriculum.
