Is society getting influenced by media/movies orvice versa. can we save ourselves from this trend .?

I think society is getting influenced more by media/movies than the vice versa.The media can easily influence society say by projecting foreign culture as happier etc.However, the society’s influence on the media will start afterwards only when the society reflects the effects of such a projection.I don’t think we can save ourselves from this trend, as till now ,the trend has shown itself to be progressive.
