Is social stratification an inevitable consequence of capitalism?discuss?

Not really a ‘consequence’ of Capitalism. Karl Marx’s theories on stratification involved Capitalistic tendencies. Max Weber used 3 components in his views: class, status and power. Social stratification is universal; all societies have inequality among its members. Studies of even the simplest societies have suggested different rewards and punishments for different selected members. People are also subjected to class stratification by ascribed status, simply by being born into a class; whereas they can improve their standing by achieved status. So, basically Capitalism is only a small element is the overall study of sociology and social stratification.
