Is Soccer the new reigning sport in New Zealand?
No, Rugby will remain the national sport for many years to come , the media (in my experience and I’ve been to New Zealand a few times) is very pro rugby. Saying that I recall seeing some stats that show more people play football in New Zealand than play rugby so its a start I’ve been told that only a generation ago children in most schools were banned form playing football so even if thats only half true it shows that the game is progressing. Thing about kiwis is they are natural sports people if football received half the backing in NZ that rugby gets you could see the kiwis easily in the top 40 nations in the world.
