Is smoking or alcohol allowed at the dances?
SSDS events are smoke-free. Our Thursday venue has a water fountain and dancers are free to bring non-alcoholic beverages; alcohol is not allowed by the owner. Most of our special events are held at venues that feature a bar. How much is the admission fee to the Thursday swing dances? Admission to the Thursday Swing Dance is $5; first timers get in free. If you paid for a dance lesson in Syracuse area, you get in that Thursday’s dance for $3; our way of supporting people who invest in their dancing. Where does all that money go? The money we collect is used to pay rent, insurance, ASCAP and BMI license fees, other operating costs, to subsidize workshops & special events, and to purchase music & equipment.
