Is smoking allowed in the residence halls?
Each complex has a limited number of assigned smoking rooms/suites and they are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. All residence and dining hall common use areas (lounges, laundry rooms, study rooms, corridors, stairwells, recreation areas, elevators, meeting rooms, etc.) are designated non-smoking areas. If you are a non-smoker assigned to a non-smoking room and you begin to smoke, you will be required to move to a smoking designated room (if space allows) or prohibited from smoking in your non-smoking room.
Executive Order 599 prohibits smoking in any University buildings, including residence halls, student rooms, lounges, recreation rooms, public areas, hallways, stairwells, balconies, walkways and pool areas. Smoking is also prohibited in outdoor areas within 20 feet of entranceways, windows and ground level air intake structures. Licensee accepts responsibility for informing visitors or guests of the University’s no-smoking policy.
