If a cigarette is labelled as containing 0.4mg of nicotine people would tend to think that it would be “better” for them than a cigarette with higher nicotine content. But what happens is that people unconsciously inhale more deeply to get the hit of nicotine they’re used to. This is known as compensatory smoking.
