Is Small-Town America Bitter?
Barack Obama’s comment about small-town America was poorly worded but true. It may have been the most important thing he has said in this entire campaign. If nothing else, the fact that he would make such a blunt statement proves that he is the true-blue candidate of the people. In American politics, everything has been so scripted to such a sickening extent for so long that we are shocked — SHOCKED, I tell you — when a candidate speaks words that are not pre-approved by 36 consultants. The glee with which the other candidates and their lackeys have jumped on this story will come back to bite them in the ass one way or the other. Mark my words. Obama said in San Francisco that people in small-town America, especially the Midwest, were bitter since their local economies have been devastated, and that they “cling” to religion and guns to ease their pain.
