Is Slavery Still Impacting African-Americans Today?
Despite the relative ease of “global communication” afforded by the explosion of Internet technology over the last twenty years or so why does it seem that Americans are becoming more polarized and less tolerant of differing opinions than ever before in our history? Whether debating the merits of the newly announced surge in Afghanistan, the federal bailout money for banks and automakers or the health care reform bill, people are widely divided in their views and opinions. But some of the widest and unfortunately, most virulent differences in opinion still involve questions related to racial equality. I think this serves to make the question, “Are African-Americans still impacted by the effects of slavery?” all the more interesting.
