Is skateboard park ready for an upgrade?
By Mary Spicer Meadville Tribune MEADVILLE — There was a day when skateboarding was remarkably straightforward — start at the top of a hill and make it to the bottom while still standing more or less upright. That, however, was yesterday. Today’s skateboarders are all about giving the laws of physics a real workout. On Aug. 9 at 7 p.m., area skateboarders, parents and members of the public at large are invited to come together at Meadville City Building at the intersection of Water and Arch streets to formulate a plan that will keep skateboarding a viable sport in Meadville for years to come. As an extra enticement to attend, pizza has been donated, according to Meadville City Councilmember LeRoy Stearns, a long-time advocate of responsible skateboarding in Meadville. For Stearns, the future of the park is all about responsibility.
