Ionic silver in high enough concentrations in vitro has been shown to be cytotoxic. The most common in vitro test for cytotoxicity is the Elution Method in L929 Mouse Fibroblast Cell Line. The in vivo test for cytotoxicity is to study the cell types with explanted tissue from a wound treated with Silverlon®. Silverlon® has been shown to be non cyctotoxic in vivo and in vitro.
