I use both pine shavings and shredded paper for my indoor cage. Female piggies are usually cleaner with their toilet needs, and will do *most* of their business in 1 corner. I use a rodent littler tray (triangle shape) in the corner where they tend to go the most, and that is filled with paper kitty litter. That gets changed daily. For the rest, 1/3 is pine shavings, (where they get their food) 1/3 is shredded paper cause they love to play in it, and at the other end to their litter tray is their beds, and they have polar fleece down there, and their little snuggle tents on that.. Mine never pee on the fleece, so I only have to wash that twice a week. The paper is changed every 2 days, and the pine shaving twice a week also. The whole base of their indoor cage is corflute though, and once a week it goes out to be hosed down. If you have boys, they tend to be little grubs and will wizz and poop anywhere and everywhere.
