Is SheerVideo useful for satellite imaging?
Unquestionably. SheerVideo is perfect for satellite imaging. Satellites and space probes produce prodigious amounts of image data at tremendous expense, but the severe constraints on the amount of data they can store and transmit back to earth require them to discard much of this valuable information, either through the use of approximating compression, or by wholesale culling of images. SheerVideo can compress this data in real time on the fly to less than half the data rate with perfect fidelity, so that it takes less than half the storage space, less than half the storage time, less than half the transmission time, and less than half the transmission bandwidth, permitting twice as many images to be stored and transmitted in the available space, bandwidth, and time.
