Yes. However, its a lot more expensive than a Food Handler’s Card. ServSafe was designed as a food safety and sanitation training course for restaurant managers. The classes and test covers a lot more than what you would learn from taking a food handler’s test. ServSafe Certification is a substitute for a food handler’s card if you get a job in a restaurant. ServSafe Certification is good anywhere in the US. And no, you do not have to get a Food Handler’s Card in another state if you have your ServSafe Certification. Just make sure its current. Your ServSafe Certification is only good for 5 years.
