Is secondary teaching really that horrible?

Did you not go to high school? Seriously. You should know about high school teaching because you just went there. Based on my high school experience, I know that being a high school teacher is not for me. But for some people I know, it’s all they want to do. People on both sides (for teaching high school vs against) relied on their own high school experience to guide their decision. Some liked to tutor in high school and really enjoyed it and became teachers at that level. Some, like me, hope to never have to be in that position. You need to know that teachers, especially at that level, have very little support from parents. The teachers also have little support from the administration. But that is not always the case. Like I said, think back to your own experience in high school. What did you observe?

It really depends on your locale, parental involvement, the community, the faculty, etc. I, myself, love teaching. I have had my bad days, but overall, teaching is a very rewarding job. Plus, these students need people just like you. Sometimes, school is the only constant these kids have. Don’t lose hope or faith in yourself. You can do it!
