Is sealant/adhesive necessary on all Octopus installations?
If you have a good fit of the adapter at the hull, we often choose not to use sealant. We have experienced no leakage on these kayaks. However, if the fit is less than perfect, an application of Marine Goop insures a tight seal. Q: The furnished bolts seem to be too short or too long. A: Octopus provides the nominal hardware bolt lengths necessary for most installations. There are kayaks that have unusually thin or thick hulls, which may require our brass screws to be longer or shortened. The bolts are available at most chain hardware stores, $8×32 brass, round head, slotted. If you can t find what you need, email Octopus. If you shorten the screws, be careful to avoid sharp edges.
