Is scarlet fever eradicated?
No, scarlet fever still exists and usually strikes children between the ages of 2-10 years old. Children in daycare and school are most susceptible. Anytime a child complains of sore throat and has a high fever, AND has a red rash around the neck, face, or anywhere on the body, take him/her to the doctor ASAP. These are signs of scarlet fever, they need to get on penicillin or ammoxil treatment right away.
