Is Santa Claus a pagan God?
The fact is that anything can be pagan if it’s more important than the real God, even if Santa Claus is the real saint. If he’s more important than Jesus at Christmas in your family then this is idolatry. However, the popular Santa Claus also has pagan elements. Santa Claus’ cult is not necessary at Christmas. Sometimes people don’t know how to celebrate Christmas in another way. It’s always been a pagan festival and it takes a long time for people to convert. My children celebrate the 6th December as a minor feast day of St. Nicholas and receive money (chocolate and real). St. Nicholas cannot fly but he could put it through the letter box, through the window or throw it down the chimney if he’s got good aim. Then they get their main presents from the Three Wise Men and Christ, on the twelve days of Christmas. They will get their presents in the Three Wise Men’s hats in front of the crib.
