Is Salt Lake City a conservative city?
Salt Lake City itself has a surprising number of Democrats, but if you go outside of the main city, to some of the surrounding areas, it’s VERY die-hard Republican. Parts of Salt Lake City are quite nice, but contrary to what you may think, not all parts of Salt Lake City are squeaky clean. The area just west, or north west of the downtown area is quite a ghetto, and it has been that way for YEARS! There are neighborhoods in that area that I wouldn’t want to walk the streets even in broad daylight. West Valley City, which is south west of the downtown area is another section that doesn’t have the greatest reputation. Some of the newer developments are nice, but the areas around the mall are pretty awful. Housing is really booming in the south end of the valley, bordering Salt Lake and Utah County. There are some VERY expensive homes in that area. It’s like yuppie central. As for what others have said about it being dominated by a certain religion, it’s not so bad in the City itself, bu
