No lettering is required by NHTSA (108) except for headlights and conspicuity tape. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety manual mentions that some lights should be marked “SAE” but this is not enforced. Truck-Lite marks all their lights with “SAE” and/or “DOT” markings. Back to questions.
