Is running a bar / restaurant that easy? Is there much money the business?
Quite a simple answer really if you think about it, yes money can be made in Spain running a bar / restaurant / hotel or any business if it is run properly, if you have to pay a traspaso you will need to take into account the monies spent on this and rental alongside that. Freehold is obviously a much safer option, although traspasos are not that bad IF you do your sums properly, many people do fall – we would not lie to you, you need to go into the business in the right frame of mind and put in the hard work. Spanish bars and restaurants for example can be extremely hard work as they are not like the pubs back in the UK that open at 11am and close at 11pm, you will have to get used to 16 hour day shifts, different climate (working in 30C + is going to take its toll on you in the summer), treat it like a business and not as a holiday – don’t drink away your profits!
