The label specifically prohibits the consumption of treated fish. • When will it be safe to eat fish from the river again? As soon as the canal has been detoxified fish will be safe to eat. Rotenone detoxifies at a rapid rate. Potassium permanganate will also be added to the treated water to accelerate the detoxification process.
