Is Rosetta Stone the best language course to learn how to speak Italian?

There is no way to know the best way for you to learn a foreign language (Italian or other). What is best for you may not be best for another. Rosetta Stone uses good methodology to teach language, and it’s somewhat similar to the method that we all use as infants to learn our mother tongue(s). They have incorporated the SLA (Second Language Acquisition) research prior to 1992, especially, since that’s when Rosetta Stone first came out. Later versions have supposedly incorporated the SLA research since then. They call their method dynamic immersion. It uses multimedia to present pictures, writing, and/or spoken language to give you opportunities to learn without consciously translating from your native language. It’s a great way to GET STARTED in learning a language. I would say the next step is to make a friend who will only speak Italian with you, and ideally someone you care about and very much want to communicate with. Or you could join an Italian conversation class at a university
