Is Roger Federer the greatest tennis player ever?
I’m not sure if he’s the greatest ever, but surely he is among the top. Tennis racquets have changed so much over the past 20-25 years that it’s hard to compare a person who plays today’s power-driven, speed-of-light game with someone who played with the finesse required to win with wooden racquets. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying he couldn’t play just as well with an antique racquet- he is obviously extremely talented- but I’d have to be able to see everyone playing on equal courts with equal gear before I would award him the Best Tennis Player Ever trophy. Out of the current players, he is undoubtedly the best, though.
