Is risk of human movement of pike to other waters increasing/decreasing/not changing?
As pike density increases, the risk of human movement of pike also increases. Options for the future: Ivan presented an outline of alternatives for the future. Since the results of the Y2000 Plan indicate that the pike population is growing, it would be wise to begin to study options for getting rid of the pike. Every option includes many technical issues that would need to be studied and political issues that would need to be addressed. Eradication methods to be analyzed include draining the reservoir completely dry, draining to a minimum pool and then using a chemical means (a piscicide, or altering water quality parameters such as pH) to eradicate the pike, or draining the lake partially. Managing the lake for pike or for both pike and trout would also be analyzed, as well as the option of continuing to follow the current plan. When a project proposal is arrived at, the environmental impact report process would probably take a year to complete. Coalition Meeting: The Coalition meeti
