Is retirement a qualifying event that allows a member to change plans outside of the open enrollment period?
Yes, a member who retires may change health coverage. If the member moves from the CMM plan to a NC SmartChoice plan or moves from an NC SmartChoice plan to CMM coverage, accumulators (including deductibles) will not transfer from the former plan to the new plan. If the member changes from one NC SmartChoice option to a different NC SmartChoice option, all accumulators (including deductibles) will transfer from the former plan to the new plan.
