Is respite care available?
Care may be provided on a regular basis or for occasional bookings. With the permission of the parent/carer and supervisory staff, individuals may be taken out of the home for social outings eg: playground, parks, movies, sport, recreation etc. Consent forms for transporting individuals must be signed by the parent/carer.
Yes! Respite care is available for two to four hours a week for those who qualify. How do I become qualified for services? You may contact OCCOA’s medical resource coordinator, who will conduct an assessment to determine services you qualify for. Is qualification for services based on income and marital status? No. Services are determined by medical need and age. Are the service providers allowed to administer my medications? Our medical resource coordinator can help you find someone who is qualified for this type of assistance. Are service providers allowed to do foot care? Service providers may bathe, dry, and put lotion on your feet, but they may not cut or trim nails. This type of assistance is available at our monthly foot care clinics.
