Actually I have been watching the regression of the younger generations in some ways now for the past twenty years. Luckily I do not have to rely on them to keep my doors open as each successive generation seems to have less dedication, less work ethic, and less respect in general for most things, not just martial arts or martial arts instructors. I do not have to balance this but so many schools and instructors do and they have watered down programs, with watered down standards, and watered down students and high rent because they are in a high traffic shopping center. As I see it you can go away from that by having a place that is cheaper to maintain and keep open and a smaller group of dedicated students and be more select as to who you take on as a student. People know I have my own school and I don’t hide that fact but I don’t want the job of trying to change all these watered down students from other people’s schools and studios into better students either.
