Actually, you will find that the government and the constitution of India are quite rational, democratic systems. Note that our first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, was an atheist. Where it all slips up is in execution. India is extremely corrupted. All this may have a passing relation to religion and religious extremism of the sort practised by the BJP and Shiv Sena but I don’t think it is the primary reason. The primary reason , according to me , is grounded firmly in science. We , in a very real sense, are still apes. All this bribery and corruption stems from our innate instincts to further one’s own cause. Coming back to religion and government, there may be a lot of truth in what you said. But remember, there was corruption and the government sucked even in the atheist USSR. And the same goes for the increasingly Christian USA. And the Muslim Arab countries. You’re right though, humans and their deranged illusions are the problem.
