Is Redefining Progress associated with Global Footprint Network?
From 1999 to 2003, Mathis Wackernagel, the co-creator of the Ecological Footprint, was the Director of Redefining Progress’s Sustainability Indicator’s Program. In 2003, Mathis left Redefining Progress to launch Global Footprint Network with co-founder Susan Burns. Today, Global Footprint Network has over 80 international partners who use a common National Accounts data set, collaborate on research and follow common methodological standards in order to increase the Footprint’s effectiveness as a catalyst of sustainability. Redefining Progress and Global Footprint Network are in regular communication but Redefining Progress is not a Global Footprint Network partner and uses a different methodology and data set than Global Footprint Network partners.
