Is recycling pop tabs worth more per lb. then the actual can? ?
Contrary to any myths you may have heard, there is absolutely no difference between the composition of the tab, and the can itself. I have been handling the tab collection program for my Cub Scout Pack for 3 1/2 years now, I have handled 3,358,000+ tabs, and have aleady Identified 158 different tabs, I probably know more about tabs than anybopdy outside of a beverage canning facility, and chat with a few of them as well. If you are just recycling them to put some change in your pocket, leave them on the can. If you are saving them for a non-profit, please dear god, don’t put them in a milk jug. Everytime a Cub Scout comes to me with a milk jug full of tabs, I have to cut the thing open, and now I got more garbage to deal with…think baggies or boxes. And yes, the myth of the $100 gallon of tabs is just that, a myth, so, if you want to make the real money, and you got some time, heres what we do. Sit down with your tabs, some zip-lock baggies and a pair of needle nose pliers, take off
