Is rape more common in the Greek system?

0

Based on studies done on this campus, although 25% of the men on this campus are in a fraternity, between 46 and 63% of the rapes are committed by fraternity men. Thus, Greeks are “over-represented” in the number of cases. Furthermore, 50% of the women who are raped belong to a sorority even though then only make up about one quarter of the women on campus. However, this is not to say that people who are involved in the Greek system are worse people–there are a host of factors that could lead to this overrepresentation. Denying this overrepresentation and increased responsibility is dangerous just as it is dangerous to believe that non-Greek members are neither victims or perpetrators.
