Is rap music a bad influence on kids?
Not at all. Bad parents are bad influences on kids. Rap don’t raise kids, parents do. If they don’t have control then they raise weak kids that are easily influenced by other people. And btw any idiot that says they have commited a crime or did something bad based on something in a rap song written by a person they have never met nor had to live in the same house raised by the same parents are mentally retarded and should not be allowed to be out in society with normal human beings. Also your friends parents are very narrow minded to think all people who listen to rap are”ghetto”. Hell, middle america white teens are the ones doing the most purchasing of rap music–tell them to do their research. I’m sure every person that owns a rap cd is not walking aroung with their pants sagging, speaking slang and drinking 40’s. They should grow up.
No, rap music does not cause kids to misbehave. It’s just like watching the DIY (Do It Yourself) channel doesn’t lead to carpentry, watching horror movies doesn’t lead to the desire to hack up teenagers and playing video games doesn’t lead to being a space marine. It’s just entertainment, like TV, movies and video games. But on a more serious note, rap/hip hop music is just the current, easy scapegoat for all of society’s problems, just like rock and roll was years ago. In all honesty, the real problem is the parents. The “Parental Advisory” labels are there for a reason, but the problem is the parents don’t pay attention to them. All they know is that Little Johnny wants the latest 50 Cent album, so they get it for him without a second thought (or worse yet, they let him buy it himself). Then when Little Johnny starts getting into trouble, they blame it on the music he was listening to. That’s just reeks of lazy parenting and lack of personal and parental responsibility. I can’t speak
