Is Queens and Brooklyn part of Long Island in New York State?
Geographically speaking, yes. The actual geographic landmass that is Long Island consists of Brooklyn, Queens, Nassau, and Suffolk Counties. Brooklyn and Queens, though, are also boroughs in New York City, which leads many people to think of “Long Island” as being just Nassau and Suffolk. If you say you’re going to “Long Island”, people generally assume you mean Nassau or Suffolk because Brooklyn and Queens are part of “the city”. It’s a little confusing if you’re not from the area. Hope this helps.
