Is Quality System Audit a Prevention or Appraisal Cost?
Personally I would class it as a prevention cost but I know some would disagree and put it in the appraisal category. I think the most important thing is to be consistent with the category. Presumably you will be comparing the change is quality costs over time so as long as you don’t change the category it should not matter too much.
