Iron pyrite (fools gold) is common in Southern Ontario. You will have an excellent chance to find it in a small stream. Try using the panning methods (like for gold) and you will more than likely find flakes in the mud you sift. It’s a lot of fun to do too. This isn’t exactly related but if you wanted to go big, you could build a sluice box and really do some searching. I did it as a kid and had a lot of fun. Didn’t find much gold, but it’s fun to build and even funner to get wet and sling mud.
