is putting nitrogen in car tires worth it?
At least, 78% of what you put into your car’s tires is nitrogen. However, I presume you are talking about pure nitrogen. Other than its being relatively inert chemically, I don’t know of any advantages this would give you. A few years back, the U.S. Olympic cycling team experimented with sealed inner tubes filled with pure helium pumped to around 200 PSI. The theory was that the helium would reduce both the rotating weight of the wheel and the hysteresis of the tire, making a faster bike. I don’t think it made any difference in the standings, as it was only used in track bikes. Skill is as important a factor as speed in those races. My point is that helium is the only thing I can think of that would make any difference in a car tire, and it would leak out so quickly that I don’t think it would be worth the trouble.
