Is Purina Beneful a good brand?
Nope; apparently it’s very unhealthy for your dog. Even besides the fact that it might be making many dogs sick and even killing them out there. I’ve heard that there is something going on with the investigation of Purina Beneful, as there has been reports of problems with the food ever since December of last year. My dog…she died a few days after starting a new bag of Beneful that we bought from Costco also. This was earlier this year. I’m sure there are people out there who haven’t been having any problems with Beneful but…if I were you I’d keep away from Beneful. Not only because I honestly think it was the cause of her death, but also because it’s very unhealthy.
Personally, I wouldn’t feed Beneful to my dogs if it were the last commercially prepared dog food left on the planet. Look at the ingredients. It’s nothing but corn (a filler that dogs can’t digest) and pretty colors. The list of ingredients on dog food packages starts with what is the main ingredient, and ends with whatever ingredient is used the least in the food. If you look at the last four or five ingredients (the ingredients that are LEAST in Beneful) they are all the “good” ingredients that they advertise so heavily and have pictures of all over the bag. But they’re barely even used in the food! If you absolutely cannot afford better foods, stay away from the Beneful. It’s crap. Even regular, plain, run of the mill Purina is better than that. Look at it this way: If they have to add a bunch of unnatural colors to the dog food so you’ll buy it.. don’t buy it. If you can afford to upgrade a buck or two, Purina One is even better than both of them (and not that far off from their P
Honestly hun…. I agree that it is good for the dogs “diet” to give them the same dog food ( I think they like a diffferent taste every once in a while) but I know that doesn’t answer your question. All the stores that sell dog foods, expecially the big pet stores like PetSmart and stuff, were told to take all the contaminated dog foods off the shelves. So really, If they do that, All the foods on the shelf should be good. And yes it is mostly the Wet Dog food, but yeah you never know. I’m very serious on my dogs health also.
Beneful is one of only a few dry foods that did not get on the recall list. My Pug eats home cooked food but likes a handful of Beneful at night. So far nothing has happened to her The dry dog food is being scrutinized now. If they put Beneful on the recall, I am going to research and experiment and make a crunchy dog food. The Alpo marrow bones are safe so far too.
