Is public consultation simply an exercise of “going through the motions” for AltaLink and EPCOR?

AltaLink and EPCOR are committed to ensuring that public consultation offers a meaningful opportunity for input into decisions related to the Heartland Project. Individual, group, or community concerns that arise from the process will be taken seriously and will factor into the final decision. As well, consultation occurs at all stages of the project, through construction and operation. The consultation conducted and stakeholder input must be included in the Facility Application, which we submit for approval to the Alberta Utilities Commission, our regulator. The AUC considers public consultation an important element of any application.
