Is prostitution still a major occurance around 42nd street and other areas of NY?
Hasn’t been like that for a decade or more. There IS prostitution in other areas of NYC, but not in such public places as Times Square anymore. Today, Times Square is like Disneyland. Really! I went to the theater on Friday, and had to walk through Times Square and it just looked so much like a theme park! (I’ve been there many times lately of course, including several times this summer, but it just struck me so this way on Friday!) You know, I found it frightening years ago to go to the theater and come home late with all that used to go on there – I’ve lived here since 1977, so I really remember it the way it used to be. But still…I hate what it’s become. I don’t want it to go back to all the hookers and such, but I wish the real theater businesses were still there, and that it was less like a theme park!
