Is Pressure Treated Wood Safe for Raised Garden Beds?
Pressure treatment kills insects that naturally live in wood and prevents additional insects, fungus and microbes from infecting the wood further and causing deterioration. When purchasing lumber for outdoor use, the pressure-treated variety is often preferable, to increase the life span of an outdoor structure. However, you should not use pressure-treated wood for a raised garden bed if you are growing food.
