Is President Obama motivated by unwavering principles?
Several political commentators have remarked, over the past few months, that some presidents merely want to be something (i.e. to be president), whereas others wish to do something; and that Barack Obama falls into the latter category. Moreover, President Obama is (ex hypothesi) perfectly willing to be a one-term president, if necessary, in order to enact a leftist agenda that will be irreversible, for all practical purposes. In a way, that stands in refreshing contradistinction to Bill Clinton, who had no discernable political-philosophy views; but merely “triangulated” out of political expediency, sometimes veering to the center-left, and other times leaning center-right. Still, I would hate to see America transformed into a democratic-socialist state (with a deeply attenuated emphasis on the “democratic” part), out of some doctrinaire leftist agenda by the current president. In 1993 and 1994 (the latter of those two years being the moment of the “Republican Revolution”), I sincerely
