Is potassium chlorate is also known as oxygen mixture?
Ive never heared it called that, but it does release oxygen very easily: a common source of oxygen gas in the lab involves the decomposition of potassium chlorate with magnanese dioxide as a catalyst. Emergency breathing oxygen (such as in an aircraft) is produced by ‘oxygen’ candles, which consist of a mixture of iron and potassium chlorate. The mixture is ignited and smoulders at about 400 degrees celcius releasing oxygen gas. Potassium chlorate is also used in explosives.
