Is POS a delicate material?
This hard wearing material has been designed to last for many years, however ,it does contain a glass content and as a consequence of misuse may shatter or crack. As a general rule, POS will not fracture under impact unless the base material has been damaged or is faulty. Because of its high compressive strength (aprox 20.000psi) the enamel is rarely crushed at the point of impact, but may be damaged if mishandled. The resistance & durability of the POS depends on the quantity of enamelled coating and its application, the quality of the base material (metal) used is just as important as the application process. This means that if the base material of the kitchenware does not meet a certain standard or contains even minor faults, the exterior coating will not function to the same extent.
