Pocono Medical Center has the resources and a strategic plan in place for treating swine flu if necessary. What Can I Do to Prevent Contracting Swine Flu? It is recommended that you take the following precautions to prevent contracting swine flu: • Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze • Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it • Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth • Try to avoid close contact with (i.e., being within six feet of) sick people • If you get sick, stay home from work or school and limit contact with others to keep from infecting them.
