Is playing a Soprano Saxophone anything like flute, obe etc?
I am fascinated why you want to buy an instrument you cant play nor know much about. A soprano sax is exactly the same as an Alto but a bit smaller, it can be either straight or have a curved bell the same as an Alto and the better instruments have both a straight and curved bell. It is a reed instrument again the same as an Alto and every other Sax and different to an Oboe which has a double reed as has a bassoon and Cor anglei, a flute doesn’t use a reed. To play either a Sax or a clarinet you put the mouth piece into the mouth reed side down so that the reed is resting on the bottom lip which is curled over the bottom teeth and you blow into the mouth piece in a firm but controlled way. It takes practise to blow correctly as over blowing produces a squeak and under blowing produces nothing. Reeds come in different strengths depending on their stiffness and for a beginner i would recommend a 1 1/2. You change the note by different combinations of keys being pressed and can change the
