Is planet X a planet?

0

“Planet X,” a.k.a. Nibiru, the planet that’s supposed to cause worldwide disaster in 2012, doesn’t exist. The doomsday believers say that this “planet” is at least five times the size of Earth. However… 1. A planet that size would be visible in backyard telescopes decades before it could approach the earth. With millions of professional and amateur astronomers scanning the skies, it would have been seen long ago, and its existence would have been impossible to keep secret. 2. A planet that size would also have a gravitational effect on every other object in the solar system. Since all of the planets, asteroids, comets, and space probes are exactly where they’re supposed to be, there can’t be some unseen planet pulling them off course. “Planet X” can be a generic term for any hypothetical but undiscovered planet, but this particular Planet X is a piece of fiction designed to sell books and videos, nothing more.
