Is petroleum jelly a good face moisturizer?
Petroleum jelly is a petroleum product. Good for cars and mechanical things, not for your skin. That is not to say that it won’t form a protective coating over your skin that might be helpful under extreme weather conditions. It will. But as a daily moisturizer, all it will do is clog your pores and cause you skin problems. Use products containing natural, non-hydrogenated oils like walnut, almond, olive, vitamin E, and so on. Avoid putting petroleum on your skin!
I use petroleum jelly for my face from time to time. I put it on my face at night and sleep on my back to assure it stays on. Then I was my face with Aveno facial wash and then use Aveno dry skin lotion. I only use the petroleum jelly like once every two weeks or even just once a month or whenever I really need it in between and I feel it works wonders.
