Is PCDP linked to Promotion, Grading and Salary?
No. The PCDP scheme is separate from any procedures relating to promotion, grading, reviews and salary matters. However, since career development is an integral component of the PCDP process, discussion of such matters may occasionally arise during meetings. Members of staff are encouraged to present paperwork associated with the PCDP process in support of applications for promotions or re-grading, or for discretionary or accelerated increments, if they wish. However, there is no requirement to do so. Such paperwork will be treated in the same confidential manner as any other documentation submitted as part of these processes. There is no guarantee that undertaking a PCDP and associated development activities will automatically lead to an increase in grade/salary. PCDP presents all staff with the opportunity to develop an individual plan that will enable them to take greater personal ownership of their own personal and career development.
