Is participation in the text message alert system mandatory?

Participation is not mandatory. However, all students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to register to receive the fastest transmission of emergency information. You can opt-out (discontinue) your inclusion in the system just as easily as you signed up through eCampus.

Participation in the text-messaging system is not mandatory; however, all faculty, staff and students who have cell phones are strongly encouraged to register. The text-message alert system is one of several ways the University will inform faculty, staff and students in the event of an emergency. Other methods of communication include website alerts, broadcast e-mails and broadcast alerts on the University cable television system.
